About the Big T Race

Learn about the history of the Big T Race, the organization who organizes the race, and the charitable organization the race supports.

History of The Big T Race

The best trail race in Santa Fe since 1984.

Run the “Big T”, a classic Santa Fe race up-and-down a mountain. Our early October race showcases the aspen groves in their full color, with cool morning temperatures typically followed by a warmer mid-day. Our race promises a fun and fast field for all runners and walkers of all ages and abilities.

The course starts at the Aspen Vista parking lot on Hyde Park Road in Santa Fe, NM, at 10,000ft altitude. We run the Forest Service road FS-150, climbing roughly six miles and a breath-taking 2000 feet to Tesuque Peak before returning to the parking lot. The gravel road is a steady climb and wide enough for a small vehicle (not single-track).

The Big T Race Supports Wings of America

Like previous years, our race will benefit Wings of America, a charitable organization promoting running in Native American youth and teens. You can learn more about Wings of America by visiting their website. If you are able, please consider a donation when you sign up. Even a small amount helps this excellent program.

Santa Fe Striders

The Striders have been promoting running in Santa Fe since 1978. We welcome runners and walkers of all ages and abilities with four weekly runs, five annual races, and a host of informal gatherings. Join us for the camaraderie and laughs.
